Free Charging

FreeCharging is an Easee custom configuration key that enables charging when an EV is connected without requiring explicit authorization. The FreeChargingIdTag value is attached to the transaction as IdToken.

When FreeCharging is enabled:

  • The CPMS must accept the FreeChargingIdTag in StartTransaction requests. If the CPMS rejects it as invalid, the charger will stop energy flow, terminate the transaction, and disable FreeCharging.
  • A StopTransaction message is sent when the EV completes charging and the EV is disconnected. Alternatively, the CPMS sending RemoteStopTransaction will stop energy flow, terminate the transaction, and disable FreeCharging.
  • FreeCharging cannot be enabled unless a valid FreeChargingIdTag is configured on the charger.

Retrieving the keys

FreeCharging and FreeChargingIdTag are proprietary configuration keys and do not appear in GetConfiguration when retrieving all keys. However, you can retrieve them by sending a GetConfiguration request for each key individually.
